Giresun is a province known for its hazelnuts and located in the Black Sea Region. Giresun province, where cherries and hazelnuts are considered to have spread all over the world, is located between the Black Sea Region, Trabzon, Gümüşhane, Erzincan, Sivas and Ordu in the Eastern Black Sea Region. The shape of this peninsula also resembles a horn. For this reason, it is derived from the Greek word "Keras", which means horn. The third rumor is that it is given with reference to the famous Roman General Kerasu, who suppressed the Spartacus rebellion.
